What is Shy to Shine?
Shy to Shine is a confidence-building aerial yoga and mindfulness program for children and teens ages 5–16. It was especially created for children who are:
  • shy or sensitive
  • thoughtful or slow to warm up
  • socially hesitant or anxious in groups
  • afraid of making mistakes
  • uncomfortable being the center of attention
But really… it's a space where children feel safe enough to be themselves. We help children build confidence, connection, resilience, emotional awareness, and self-belief — slowly, gently, and without pressure.

Because confidence grows where children feel safe.

Is this only for shy children?
No. Some children are shy. Some are anxious. Some are highly sensitive. Some struggle socially. Some simply need a smaller, calmer environment to feel comfortable.

Shy to Shine is for children who benefit from emotional safety, encouragement, mindfulness, movement, and belonging.

Many parents tell us: "My child just needs the right room."

What makes this different from a regular activity or yoga class?
We don't just teach aerial yoga. We create emotionally safe spaces where children can slowly begin to believe in themselves. Many activities focus on performance — we focus on the child. We care deeply about:
  • how children feel
  • how they see themselves
  • how they connect with others
  • whether they feel safe enough to participate
Children are never rushed, embarrassed, or pressured.

Because belonging comes before confidence.

How does Shy to Shine help children build confidence?
Confidence is not built through pressure. It's built through small moments of success, courage, connection, and being seen. In our classes, children are gently encouraged to:
  • speak in the circle when they feel ready
  • demonstrate skills when they feel ready
  • help teach one another and support partners
  • lead games
  • make up new poses and name them
  • try new challenges at their own pace
There is never pressure to perform or "keep up." Every child is given the space to participate in their own time — because belonging comes before confidence.

That transformation is one of the most beautiful parts of this work.

What happens in a typical class?
Every class is intentionally designed to support both emotional wellbeing and confidence-building. Classes include:
  • connection circles
  • mindfulness and breathing
  • aerial yoga and movement
  • partner work and team challenges
  • communication activities
  • relaxation and nervous system regulation
  • confidence and personal growth exercises
We also weave in age-appropriate personal growth concepts inspired by Adventures in Wisdom , helping children build confidence, positive self-talk, resilience, emotional awareness, growth mindset, and courage through challenges.

The goal is not perfection. The goal is helping children feel safe enough to grow.

What if my child is nervous to join?
That's completely okay. Many children come in feeling unsure at first. Some look back at their parent watching from the lobby in the first class. Some barely speak at the beginning. Some watch before participating.

We expect that. Children do not need to "perform confidence" here.

They simply need space to arrive in their own time.

What kind of children thrive in this program?
We often see children who overthink, hold back socially, fear making mistakes, struggle with confidence, feel overwhelmed in larger groups, or want connection but don't always know how to enter in.

And something beautiful happens when they feel safe. They begin trying. Speaking. Laughing. Participating — even asking to lead. Connecting.

Not because they were pushed. Because they were seen.

Is this therapeutic?
We are not therapy. But we are deeply intentional about emotional safety, mindfulness, confidence-building, connection, and nervous system support. Parents often tell us their children become:
  • more confident
  • more comfortable socially
  • more willing to try new things
  • calmer and more regulated
  • more connected to themselves and others
What if my child has never done aerial yoga before?
Most children are beginners. The goal is not to "be good" at aerial yoga. The hammock simply becomes a tool for courage, confidence, play, resilience, trying again, and trusting themselves.

Children grow by experiencing: "I was scared… and I did it anyway."

Are classes competitive?
Not at all. This is not a competitive environment — there is enough competition in this world. Children are encouraged to go at their own pace.

We celebrate effort, courage, kindness, growth, and connection — not perfection.

Why are the groups small?
Because children open up differently when they feel seen. Our small groups allow us to truly know each child, support them individually, and create a calmer, more connected experience.
Is this a long-term program?
Yes. Shy to Shine is designed as a journey, not a quick fix. Real confidence takes time.

Week by week. Child by child. Smile by smile. Something begins to shift.

What is the goal of the program?
The goal is not to create "perfectly confident" children. The goal is to help children feel safe, seen, capable, connected, and comfortable being themselves.

Because children who feel safe enough to be themselves… shine naturally.

What if I'm not sure this is the right fit?
That's okay too. Many parents come to us saying: "I just have a feeling my child needs something like this." You don't need to have it all figured out. You're welcome to:
  • message us
  • visit an open house
  • ask questions
  • come experience the space first
We're happy to help you decide whether it feels aligned for your child.

Why We Created This

Some children walk in hoping no one notices them

Shy to Shine was created for those children. Through aerial yoga, mindfulness, leadership opportunities, and emotionally safe small groups, children experience something powerful: "I was scared… and I did it anyway."

Week by week, they stop hiding. They start trying. Speaking up. Connecting. Leading. Believing in themselves.

from fear → to courage
from hesitation → to participation
from "I can't" → to "I DID IT."

Most parents think confidence comes first. We believe safety comes first — and that real confidence is built through small moments of courage repeated over time. Because when children feel seen, safe, and successful… they shine naturally.

One more thing…

Shyness is not a flaw. It's a signal — it's often a child waiting for the right environment. That's what Shy to Shine was created to be: a place where children feel safe enough to shine.
